2027-28 Fantasy Hockey Cap-Efficiency Rankings

Which NHL players return the most projected 2027-28 production per dollar of cap hit — the ranking that decides a cap league, where the best player is routinely the wrong pick.

Updated October 3, 2026

Projected points divided by cap hit, ranked within each position. Entry-level contracts dominate this list, and that is the finding rather than a flaw: a 30-point rookie at under a million returns more per dollar than a star on a maximum deal. The last column is how far a player moves versus the straight point ranking. Projections are built from 2026-27 production; cap hits are the current contract on file.

No 2026-27 data with contracts attached is available yet, so there is nothing to rank.

These use one simple scoring profile, so your own league's totals will differ.
